Test Architect

Test Architect 💰 £380-400/day (Inside IR35) | 📍 Wokingham (Fully onsite) 📅 6 months contract

Our client, a leading global organisation, is looking for an experienced Test Architect to lead the definition and governance of enterprise-wide testing strategy, architecture, and quality engineering standards across large-scale transformation programmes. As the Test Architect, you will be responsible for shaping end-to-end testing strategy across complex enterprise environments, ensuring quality is embedded throughout the software delivery lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities Define and own the end-to-end test architecture, including frameworks, environments, tooling, and test data strategy Establish enterprise-wide testing standards, governance, and best practices Design and implement automation frameworks across UI, API, mobile, performance, and security testing Evaluate and recommend testing tools and technologies; lead modernisation initiatives and PoCs Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows Define approaches for non-functional testing, including performance, resilience, accessibility, and security Provide technical leadership and mentoring to QA teams and test engineers Collaborate with developers, solution architects, DevOps teams, and stakeholders to drive quality by design Review test metrics, KPIs, and dashboards to support continuous improvement Ensure testing practices align with regulatory, security, and audit requirements where applicable Required Skills & Experience 10+ years’ experience in software testing / quality engineering 3–5 years in a Test Architect or Test Lead capacity Strong expertise with automation frameworks such as: Selenium Playwright Cypress REST Assured Experience testing APIs, microservices, and cloud-native applications Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, SDLC, DevOps, and CI/CD practices Hands-on experience with performance testing tools such as: Apache JMeter Gatling Programming/scripting experience in Java, Python, or JavaScript Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Knowledge of containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills Nice to Have Experience with AI-driven testing tools and test analytics Domain experience in Banking, Insurance, Utilities, Telecoms, or Healthcare Certifications such as ISTQB Advanced/Test Architect, SAFe, or cloud certifications
