The South West Heritage Trust are seeking a Visitor Services Assistant to join our team, delivering a first class visitor experience at the Museum of Somerset, Taunton.

The post holder will be responsible for providing the highest standards of customer care, welcoming visitors to the site, assisting with the security and maintenance and cleanliness of the site, assisting with events and helping with retail and ticket sales.

A basic awareness of health and safety and premises issues is required, and you must be confident and comfortable with using computers and other technical equipment (e.g. tills). You should also have a genuine enthusiasm about Somerset’s history and heritage and be keen to share this to inform and inspire our visitors. Maximum flexibility, and the ability to work additional hours, sometimes at short notice, is essential.

The South West Heritage Trust is an independent charity which provides heritage services across Somerset and Devon. We run two Archive and Local Studies services and three museums, including the Museum of Somerset, and look after Somerset’s historic environment, including over 400 acres of historic landscapes. We are committed to building an organisation as diverse as the communities we serve. Your application for this role will be welcomed whatever your background and regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, and marriage or civil partnership.
