Who We Are Looking For

AkomaAsa Performing Arts Academy is seeking a Skilled Volunteer with professional experience in accounting and financial management, ideally specifically with QuickBooks, to help them stabilise and strengthen their systems. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with historical financial data, identifying and correcting discrepancies, and putting in place clear, sustainable processes that a non-specialist team can maintain going forward.

Project Brief

AkomaAsa Performing Arts Academy is facing challenges with their financial reporting and reconciliation processes. They need support from an external expert to review their accounts, produce accurate financial reports, then share best practices and build new processes for the team to maintain their accounts moving forward. This should empower AkomaAsa to avoid backlogs and discrepancies in the future, gain greater clarity of their overall financial situation, and allow them to present a clear financial picture to funders and auditors.

The Skilled Volunteer Will

Review their QuickBooks setup and identify any historical discrepancies Support them to produce clear, accurate financial reports for each of the services they deliver Help them set up simple, sustainable bookkeeping processes and easy‑to‑use templates that their team can maintain independently

Who You’ll Be Supporting

AkomaAsa Performing Arts Academy delivers Western and African Diaspora dance, music, drama, and performance training to children and young people. Through established partnerships with institutions like Central School of Ballet, they connect young artists with professional-level instruction, work experience, and performance opportunities. They also proudly celebrate Black and Caribbean cultural identity in their programmes, as well aiming to expand the worldviews and global citizenship of their students by offering international youth exchanges.

Your Impact

By helping AkomaAsa Performing Arts Academy get their finances in order, you will be giving them the foundation they need to grow, plan, and sustain their work with confidence. This will ensure they are able to continue delivering performance arts training as a powerful tool for young people’s self-expression, confidence-building, and broader community cohesion – as well as providing professional-level training that opens doors to work opportunities.
