Xpert: Test Automation Architect (Liverpool, UK)

Role: Senior Automation Engineer

Location: Liverpool, UK (hybrid)

Engagement: Independent Contractor | 3–6 month contract – to start ASAP

Role Summary

We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to support the design, improvement and maintenance of automation frameworks and test tooling across delivery teams. This role is suited to someone with strong hands-on automation experience, solid coding ability, and a good understanding of CI/CD and quality engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

Build, maintain and improve test automation frameworks Write clean, scalable, reusable automation code using sound OOP principles Support CI/CD integration for automated testing Review code, resolve issues and contribute to framework improvements Help improve code quality, maintainability and test coverage Work closely with technical teams and provide guidance where needed

Essential Skills & Experience

Strong experience in test automation engineering at senior level Solid object-oriented programming skills Experience building or enhancing automation frameworks Good CI/CD pipeline experience Strong code review, troubleshooting and refactoring skills Knowledge of scalable, maintainable test design principles Comfortable working with stakeholders and technical teams

Desirable

Experience with static code analysis tools such as SonarQube Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience
