Are you a Band 4 Dental Nurse looking for an exciting role, working alongside the military, which offers numerous benefits and opportunities? If the answer is yes, then we are looking to appoint a professional and patient focused individual with a strong commitment to providing a high quality service to work within our friendly and welcoming team at the Dental Centre Harrogate, Army Foundation College, Uniacke Barracks.

The vacant post is full time working 37.5 hours per week. Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs.

Requirements

  • Candidates who hold the qualifications but are not yet registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) are eligible to apply for this vacancy. However, if found successful it is a requirement that you are registered with the GDC prior to starting in the post.
  • Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.
  • If found successful for this position, you will be required to provide evidence of your immunity to Hepatitis B. Please note that evidence of your vaccination is not a proof of your immunity, but your serology levels will be required.
  • All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date.
  • This role does not meet the criteria for visa sponsorship under the points-based system.

Responsibilities

  • To provide clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) Dental (D) to enhance force generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on operations.
  • Ensure their surgeries are prepared appropriately for the days patients in accordance with current regulations.
  • Carry out and record daily maintenance, servicing and pre-user checks of dental equipment reporting defects in accordance with current equipment care policies, completing daily forms for all equipment.
  • Provide chairside support to the operator for all operative procedures.
  • Record accurate dental charting for each patient as required by the dentist. These charts may be required as ante-mortem records by the Defence Primary Healthcare Forensic Odontology teams called upon to carry out post-mortem identification.
  • Ensure all specialist referrals are accurately recorded and despatched for specialist appointments. Liaise with patients about appointment times. Following the referral appointment, ensure any items sent with the referral have been returned to the dental centre by the specialist department.

  • Maternity, adoption or shared parental leave of up to 26 weeks full pay followed by 13 weeks of statutory pay and a further 13 weeks unpaid, and paternity leave of 2 weeks full pay.
