King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an exceptional and forward-thinking Principal Pharmacist- Data & Technology to lead the digital transformation of pharmacy services across the Trust.

This is a senior strategic leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering the Pharmacy digital and data vision, establishing a Pharmacy Clinical Data Analytics and AI Centre, and driving innovation in medicines optimisation, operational productivity, and patient safety. The post holder will act as the Trust’s senior expert for pharmacy data and digital performance, working closely with senior leadership and teams to embed data-driven decision-making at every level.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospital pharmacist with strong data literacy, leadership capability, and a passion for digital innovation to influence care delivery at scale within one of the UK’s largest teaching Trusts.

Requirements

  • Significant post-registration experience in hospital Pharmacy

  • Strong written communication skills (applications must be well structured and analytical)

  • You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

  • Experience delivering large-scale digital, data or service transformation programmes

  • Evidence of presenting complex information to senior leaders in an accessible format.

  • Experience building effective partnerships across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership for pharmacy data, digital innovation and performance across the Trust.
  • Lead the development and delivery of the Pharmacy Digital & Data Strategy, ensuring alignment with Trust and national priorities.
  • Establish and oversee a Pharmacy Clinical Data Analytics and AI function, positioning pharmacy data as a key driver of quality, patient safety & operational productivity.
  • Design and maintain robust data governance, validation and reporting frameworks.
  • Develop dashboards and performance scorecards.
  • Translate complex datasets into actionable insights to inform clinical and operational decision-making.
  • Lead digital and analytics projects from design through to implementation and benefits realisation, ensuring measurable service improvement and transformation.
  • Act as the Trust’s senior expert for pharmacy data and digital performance, influencing senior stakeholders both internally and externally to the Trust.
  • Lead and develop the Pharmacy Data team, embedding a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Participation in clinical pharmacy services, supporting safe medicines optimisation, discharge processes, audit, and research activities.
  • The post holder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
