SENIOR CONSULTANT โ NATURE / ECOLOGY & BIODIVERSITY
Bristol | Minimum 3 days per week in the office
MNRecruit is recruiting on behalf of an award-winning sustainability consultancy for an experienced Senior Consultant to join its growing Nature team.

This established sustainability consultancy works across the full spectrum of sustainability, helping organisations create resilient places and deliver better environmental and social outcomes. The Nature team focuses on ensuring biodiversity is not simply protected from harm, but actively enhanced beyond minimum policy and legislative requirements.
The role ๐ฟ
The successful candidate will lead and deliver ecology and biodiversity projects from inception through to completion, combining technical expertise with strong project and client management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading ecology and biodiversity projects relating to planning
- Producing and technically reviewing PEAs
- Producing and reviewing Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments
- Undertaking BNG calculations using the Statutory Biodiversity Metric
- Producing BREEAM Ecology Credit Assessments
- Producing protected species reports
- Leading UKHab / PEA and bat surveys
- Producing biodiversity net gain mapping using QGIS
- Attending client and project meetings
- Liaising with clients, consultants, and external stakeholders
- Supporting wider project teams
- Line managing and mentoring junior team members
- Supporting reports and proposals

What You'll need ๐ฑ
The ideal candidate will be proficient in a number of the following:
- QGIS and habitat/survey mapping
- COREO
- Preliminary Ecological Appraisals
- Biodiversity Net Gain and the Statutory Biodiversity Metric
- Bat surveys and identification
- Protected species surveys
- UKHab and botanical identification
- BREEAM Ecology
- HRA, EcIA or another protected species/ecology discipline
You should also have:
- A relevant degree in ecology, biology, environmental science or similar
- MSc desirable
- Full CIEEM membership
- Protected species survey licence desirable
- Understanding of ecosystem services and the natural capital approach
- Excellent report writing skills
- Strong project and client management skills
- Excellent communication and numeracy
- Strong organisation and time management
- A genuine enthusiasm for nature conservation
