Full-time 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Our client, a highly regarded primary school situated in Oldbury, West Midlands, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-time 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team. This exciting opportunity offers a competitive daily rate of £110 - £120, recognising the valuable expertise and support you will provide to our students with special educational needs.
About the Role
As a Full-time 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the educational experience and promoting the academic, social, and emotional growth of our students with diverse learning needs. Your primary responsibility will be to provide individualised support and assistance to a designated student, ensuring they can fully participate in all aspects of the curriculum and school life.
Key Responsibilities
- Closely collaborating with the class teacher to understand the student's specific educational, physical, and emotional needs, and developing personalised learning strategies to support their progress.
- Providing one-to-one support and guidance to the student, ensuring they can actively engage in lessons, complete tasks, and develop essential skills.
- Assisting the student with personal care routines, such as toileting, feeding, and mobility, while maintaining their dignity and independence.
- Implementing behaviour management strategies to help the student regulate their emotions and develop appropriate social skills.
- Adapting and modifying learning materials, resources, and the physical environment to accommodate the student's unique requirements.
- Maintaining detailed records of the student's progress, attendance, and any relevant medical or behavioural information.
- Communicating regularly with the class teacher, SENCO, and other relevant professionals to discuss the student's needs, progress, and any concerns.
- Participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in supporting students with special educational needs.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- A relevant teaching assistant qualification, such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or an equivalent.
- Previous experience working as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, supporting students with special educational needs.
- A deep understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and the ability to implement appropriate strategies and interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students with diverse needs.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to participate in training opportunities.
- A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
