About the Role
Chawson Community First School is looking for teaching assistants for several roles to support the children at Chawson. Successful candidates will be people who can motivate and inspire children to be ‘Independent, Articulate and Aspirational.’
We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and caring Grade 1 teaching assistants to fill these roles. Experience of special educational needs would be an advantage, but this is also an exciting opportunity for anyone with a passion and natural aptitude for supporting children with additional needs as any necessary training will be provided for the successful candidates.

- A passion for working with children with SEND.
- Willingness to encourage children to reach their full potential.
- Knowledge and understanding of special educational needs and the ability to use this knowledge to support a child/children.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with children.
- Resilient and nurturing personality.
- The best interests of children at the centre of their practice.
- Ability to think on their feet.
- Experience of leading interventions to support children.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with staff and parents.
- Willingness to develop their understanding of special needs and strategies to support children.

Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting individual and/or groups of pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
- Work with a named child at key points to maximize progress for the pupil.
- Working with groups of pupils as required.
- Understand My Plan targets and long-term outcomes for a group of children and/or your named child.
- Take an active role in the assess, plan, do, review cycle.
- Support at playtimes and lunchtimes during unstructured play.
- Liaising with SENCO and outside agencies.
