Job Summary

An internship opportunity to join the UK Investment Grade Credit Sales team, working alongside senior salespeople and the broader Credit Chain (Syndicate, Trading, Research, Origination). The trainee will gain hands-on exposure to institutional credit markets and the day-to-day workings of a busy Sales desk.

Key Responsibilities

Desk Support & Client Communications

  • Post new issue announcements and primary market updates to clients on behalf of the sales team
  • Send client event invitations and manage distribution lists for roadshows, reverse roadshows, and conferences
  • Help coordinate client outreach campaigns, including scheduling and follow-up tracking
  • Assist salespeople with booking tickets and managing order flow logistics
  • Help distribute research, market colour, and trade ideas to relevant client lists.

Market Intelligence & Opportunity Identification

  • Cross-reference the desk's axes and inventory against client investment mandates, targets, and risk constraints to help flag potential business opportunities for the team
  • Monitor new issue pipelines and secondary market activity to keep the team informed of relevant developments
  • Track issuer and sector news to support the team's market commentary

Reporting & Analytics

  • Prepare and maintain periodic desk commentary (daily/weekly market wraps, primary market summaries)
  • Build and update client activity dashboards using PowerBI and internal systems
  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions, event attendance, and outreach activity
  • Produce ad hoc analysis and presentation materials as requested by the team

Learning & Development

  • Develop familiarity with internal systems (ClientLive, CART PowerBI, Vector) and external platforms (Bloomberg, Ipreo/eBook, Neptune, MarketAxess, Tradeweb, etc)
  • Participate in desk meetings
  • Build internal networks across Sales, Syndicate, Trading, and Research

Requirements

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Specialty

  • Graduated within the past 18 months with a minimum 2:1 or equivalent
  • Degree in Finance, Economics, or Mathematical field

Experience

  • No prior experience required; demonstrated interest in credit markets or capital markets through coursework, societies, or prior internships considered a plus.

Required skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Proactive and eager to learn
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Comfortable with data and analytical tasks
  • Team-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Technical skills required

  • Basic understanding of credit markets and fixed income products
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Bloomberg familiarity a plus
