The Role:
Excalon Limited is looking for an experienced 132kV Cable Jointer to join our growing EHV cable installation team. We are looking for a highly competent jointer with proven hands-on experience working on 132kV XLPE cable systems, capable of carrying out jointing and termination activities to the highest standards of workmanship, safety, and quality. The successful candidate will work across Excalon's high-voltage infrastructure projects throughout the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation of 132kV cable joints and terminations
- Preparation and jointing of XLPE EHV cable systems
- Installation of outdoor, GIS, and transformer cable terminations
- Installation of straight joints and associated bonding equipment
- Working within joint bays, link box chambers, and substations
- Cable preparation, sheath removal, insulation preparation, and component installation
- Following manufacturer-specific jointing procedures and specifications
- Completing jointing documentation, quality records, and installation check sheets
- Maintaining extremely high standards of cleanliness and workmanship
- Working closely with site managers, engineers, and cable installation teams
- Ensuring all works are completed safely and in accordance with project RAMS and client requirements

Essential Experience
Applicants must have:
- Previous 132kV cable jointing experience
- Proven experience working with EHV XLPE cable systems
- Experience installing 132kV joints and/or terminations
- Strong understanding of cable preparation and EHV jointing practices
- Ability to work accurately from manufacturer jointing instructions
- Excellent attention to detail and quality
- Strong understanding of electrical and site safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of an EHV jointing team
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK when required
- Experience with major EHV cable system manufacturers would be highly advantageous.
Desirable
- Experience or certification with manufacturers/systems such as: Pfisterer, TE Connectivity / Raychem, Nexans, NKT, Prysmian
- Previous experience working on DNO, IDNO, National Grid, or transmission/distribution projects would also be advantageous.
