About The Role
Are you a compassionate, confident and proactive Live-in Carer / Personal Assistant looking for a meaningful role where personality fit really matters?
Join Paragon Home Healthcare and support a client in his early 70s who suffered a high-level spinal cord injury following a motorbike accident in his home in Northwood, HA6.
We are recruiting two live-in carers to work alongside each other for this role. This is a physically demanding role that is quite different from dementia or elderly care, requiring safe, skilled moving and handling. While the techniques are unique to high-level spinal injuries, you do not need prior spinal injury experience. We are a specialist provider and will provide full training to teach you everything you need to know.
We are looking for a mix of drivers and non-drivers, as one of the carers must be willing to drive. You will be driving him in his automatic WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle) for local trips.
We’re looking for a mature personality with a thick skin and a great sense of humour. The client loves the Carry On films and values banter, so we want someone who can have a laugh, doesn't take things too seriously, and is happy to fit in naturally as part of the household.
You’ll be supporting his daily routine, pressure care, bowel management, and respiratory exercises, while helping him maintain his independence and confidence. Over time, the client is keen to get out to the pub and see live bands, so this role would suit someone flexible, open-minded, and happy to support outings and trips where agreed.
Full training is provided, with ongoing support from our experienced nurse-led clinical and care team.
About The Client
Our client is a man in his early 70s living in Northwood, HA6.
He has a high-level spinal cord injury and is a wheelchair user. He requires support with transfers and mobility using a ceiling track hoist to protect his shoulders, and safe moving and handling is essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
He is looking for someone who can support him safely while helping him continue to feel like himself. This role would suit someone warm, relaxed, respectful, and naturally encouraging — someone who understands that this is not just about care tasks, but about dignity, routine, confidence, and quality of life.
The client is direct and loves banter and the Carry On films, but he also values his own alone time. The right person should have a good sense of humour, be able to relax with him, and not be overbearing — fitting in naturally as part of the household.
This is very much a Live-in PA / Carer role rather than a traditional “carer-only” position.
