About Huawei IRC
Huawei Ireland Research Centre (IRC) mission is to position Huawei as a recognized technology leader and a global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) solutions. To achieve this we are building an industry-recognized multi-discipline Research Centre of experts with focus on medium-term to long-term issues. The IRC will work closely with an open innovative ecosystem with Huawei customers to address real-world issues. The IRC will also engage with key European universities to build a basic research capability to support Huawei technical projects.
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive Low-Level Graphics Engineer Intern for an exciting opportunity in our Game Rendering Acceleration Team in Dublin.
We are looking for a proactive Low-Level Graphics Programming Developer Intern to lead the technical deep-dive into our Next-Generation Rendering Optimization Engine. This project focuses on pushing the boundaries of hardware-software co-design by leveraging reverse engineering, assembly-level tuning, and kernel-level graphics scheduling to streamline complex rendering lifecycles within the Game Rendering Acceleration domain. You will work with an international and fast-paced team of expert researchers and engineers, bridging the gap between high-level graphics APIs and the silicon-level execution of deep-tech rendering research.

Requirements:
- Hardware-Software Synthesis: Research and reverse engineer proprietary GPU driver behaviors and hardware scheduling logic to extract actionable insights for performance gains beyond standard API constraints.
- Low-Level System Engineering: Architect and implement specialized optimization layers within the Operating System (OS) and graphics stack to reduce draw-call overhead and minimize CPU-GPU synchronization latency.
- GPU Architecture Orchestration: Develop high-performance kernels and shaders with a focus on register pressure, memory alignment, and instruction-level parallelism to maximize GPU throughput for cutting-edge rendering techniques.
- Performance Analytical Tooling: Research and implement custom profiling utilities, utilizing hardware performance counters and assembly-level debugging, to facilitate automated bottleneck detection for large-scale graphics systems.
Qualifications:
- Majored in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Advanced Systems Programming: Proficient in C, C++, and Assembly (ARM/x86). Demonstrable experience in Operating System (OS) internals, memory management, and low-level system calls.
- Graphics & GPU Expertise: Strong conceptual or hands-on understanding of modern graphics APIs (Vulkan, Metal, or DX12) and GPU architectures. Experience with reverse engineering tools (e.g., IDA Pro, Ghidra) is a plus.
- Communication & Structure: Superior ability to translate complex low-level technical data (e.g., disassembly, frame traces) into structured, professional technical specifications.
- Linguistic Versatility: Professional fluency in English; Mandarin proficiency is a significant advantage for global stakeholder collaboration.
- Work Eligibility: To be eligible to work legally in Ireland.
