Hours: Monday - Friday, 37-hours a week (8-hours Monday - Thursday, 5-hours Friday), exact working hours TBC.
Start date: Monday 6 September 2027

About the Role

This exciting apprenticeship will give you the skills, experience and knowledge to become a highly specialised Asset Manager within the Services team. Your responsibilities may include:

Training course: Asset manager (level 4)

Training schedule

Apprenticeship Programme: You will study towards a Level 4 Asset Manager Apprenticeship with Teesside University. Delivered over 2 years, via a virtual delivery model, this programme will introduce you to the foundations of asset management including optimising performance, minimising costs, driving sustainability, enhancing decision making and meeting regulatory standards. This apprenticeship has been accredited by the Institute of Asset Management.

Course contents

  • Identify the organisation’s context and constraints that affect asset management.
  • Identify asset service and performance requirements.
  • Estimate and calculate Life Cycle Cost (LCC) or Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for assets/asset systems.
  • Use techniques to identify interventions for assets/asset system and estimate benefits.
  • Apply multi criteria decision making methods to proposed intervention options.
  • Select and use decision support tools to make asset management recommendations.
  • Develop asset life-cycle plans including performance monitoring and business case.
  • Classify assets, asset systems, life cycle stages and activities.
  • Plan and manage projects.
  • Assess asset health; condition and performance.
  • Select and apply fault finding technique(s) to identify causes and effects of assets/asset system failures.
  • Apply continuous improvement techniques.
  • Assess and quantify asset, asset system and asset management activity-related risks; identify mitigation options.
  • Comply with legislation, asset management standards and company policies.
  • Use information technology systems and processes.
  • Collate and analyse asset/asset system data and information.
  • Interpret and present data - qualitative and/or quantitative.
  • Communicate with colleagues and stakeholders – verbal, written and presentation.

Requirements

Essential qualifications:

  • GCSE in: 5 GCSE's Including English and Maths (grade 9-4 (A-C))
  • A Level in: 3 A Level's including Maths (grade Grade A-C / 64 UCAS points)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements:

To be considered for this position, you must have the permanent right to work in the UK and be able to successfully complete and maintain UK Government security checks, including Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) screening and Security Clearance (SC), which is a government background check, before starting employment. To be eligible for SC clearance, you will typically need to have lived in the UK continuously for the last five years. As part of the vetting process, you will be asked to provide evidence of your identity, right to work in the UK, any time spent overseas during the last five years, and your employment and/or education history. In addition, this role supports a UK Eyes Only programme and is therefore subject to government-mandated nationality restrictions. To satisfy the security clearance requirements for access to highly sensitive information, applicants must have been British citizens from birth and must not hold any other nationality. This requirement is determined by the UK Government and is a condition of programme access rather than an employment preference.
