Description

As an intern in the Commercial & Investment Banking Risk Management Program in London, you will work with industry experts to identify, assess and manage risk for our global businesses. You’ll collaborate with colleagues at all levels, gain broad product knowledge, build your network, and develop expertise in a diverse, supportive environment. We value your unique perspective to help us innovate for our clients and we will provide the tools to succeed with training and mentorship, and the chance to work on engaging projects.

Risk Management plays a critical role in helping the firm grow responsibly by identifying, assessing and managing risks across global markets and businesses. Join a collaborative environment where you'll gain valuable industry exposure, build meaningful relationships, and contribute to work that has real impact.

What You Can Expect

Understanding, mitigating and managing risk is central to the current and future success of our business. Our Risk managers shape decisions, influence models and interface with regulators to protect our financial reputation.

Program overview

  • Nine-weeks, with a five-day induction and training led by expert instructors and JPMorganChase professionals.

  • You'll build your technical and practical knowledge on-the-job with opportunities in one of the chosen risk teams listed below:

    • The Credit Risk Team: is responsible for reviewing client credit strength and approving and managing retained credit risk (risk of default) within the Commercial and Investment Bank (CIB). Credit risk arises through underwriting, lending and trading activities, including investment and non-investment grade syndicated loans, acquisition finance, derivatives, foreign exchange and other products.
    • The Market Risk Team: partners closely with the CIB trading businesses to independently identify, measure, monitor, and report market risk across multiple asset classes (FX, Rates, Equities, Credit, Securitized Products, and Commodities). The team tracks market events, performs portfolio risk analytics, runs scenario analysis, sets risk limits and provides timely risk escalation as exposures evolve. Market Risk’s insights regularly inform senior management’s decisions on the firm’s risk appetite—particularly ahead of and during periods of elevated market volatility.
    • The Chief Investment Office, Treasury and Corporate (CTC) Risk Team: is an independent risk function that manages the risk of the retained portfolio generated from the CTC businesses and includes Market Risk, Credit Risk, Reputational Risk, Country Risk, Principal Risk, and Model Risk. CTC Risk is also responsible for the independent risk management of Firmwide Liquidity Risk, Interest Rate Risk, and Capital Risk.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
