Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join a Finance Apprenticeship within our UK business. This role is a rare chance for a highly motivated individual to take on a role that has excellent career progression opportunities within Thales.
Wage
£24,000 a year
- Performance related pay uplifts
- Pension - Thales match, plus 1%, with a maximum contribution of 7%
- Health Insurance - 50% of salary for 5 years

Hours
Monday - Friday, 37 hours a week (8-hours Monday - Thursday, 5-hours Friday), exact working hours to be confirmed.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
As a Finance Apprentice, you'll support a variety of finance activities across the business while gaining hands-on experience in a professional environment. Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting finance teams with day-to-day tasks and projects.
- Helping resolve timesheet and labour booking queries.
- Supporting the preparation and distribution of monthly financial reports.
- Assisting with cost, overhead and headcount reporting.
- Supporting budget planning, forecasting and reforecasting activities.
- Assisting with cost centre reviews and management reporting.
- Helping maintain accurate financial records and reconciliations.
- Supporting project finance activities, including cost transfers and project closures.
- Assisting with financial journals, accruals, prepayments and corrections.
- Supporting ad hoc finance projects and business activities as required.
- Producing reports and carrying out data analysis.
- Completing other finance-related tasks as required.

What you'll learn
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues, such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
Training schedule
As part of this apprenticeship, you will:
- Study towards a Level 2 Accounts Assistant Apprenticeship (12 months), followed by a Level 3 Assistant Accountant (15 months)
- Complete your training with The Apprentice Academy, our lead training provider
- Learn through a virtual training programme
- Gain knowledge and skills in everyday accounting and finance activities
- Develop the confidence and competence to carry out finance tasks successfully
- Achieve an AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting and a Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting upon successful completion
Requirements
Essential qualifications
- GCSE in: 5 GCSEs incl. Maths and English (grade A*-C or 9-4)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
