Hilton Glasgow Finance Centre of Excellence

Hilton’s Glasgow Finance Centre of Excellence is a great place for individuals looking to gain real-world experience in a global finance environment.

All placements will provide exposure to a wide range of corporate finance activities, including journal postings, balance sheet reconciliations, VAT and revenue analysis, audit support, and financial reporting. Placement students will work closely with experienced professionals across various finance functions, contributing to the monthly close process, supporting compliance and control activities, and engaging in continuous improvement initiatives.

You’ll gain insight into Hilton’s financial systems and processes, develop your analytical and organisational skills, and build a strong foundation for a career in finance. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a collaborative, fast-paced team within one of the world’s most recognised hospitality brands, where innovation and excellence are at the heart of everything we do.

UK Payroll & Compliance Team

Hilton’s UK Payroll & Compliance Team is part of our wider HR function and is responsible for payroll activities for approximately 7,000 Team Members across 51 Hilton properties. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, high-impact environment where accuracy, collaboration, and meeting deadlines are essential.

As an intern in the UK Payroll & Compliance Team, you will develop practical skills in payroll, finance, and compliance, while learning how we ensure our Team Members are paid accurately and on time.

What you’ll gain:

  • Practical experience in UK payroll legislation and processes.
  • Exposure to payroll accounting and financial controls.
  • The opportunity to work on meaningful projects and process improvements.
  • Collaboration with international teams and our Global Payroll Services network.
  • Insight into how a global organisation operates behind the scenes.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting payroll processing and analysing payroll data.
  • Assisting with reconciliations, general ledger postings, and journal entries.
  • Contributing to balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Supporting HMRC compliance activities, including benefits-in-kind reporting.
  • Completing monthly SOX controls and audit checks.
  • Working closely with internal teams, including our Global Payroll team and Shared Service Centre in Hyderabad.

Financial Systems Team

Hilton's Financial Systems team is part of our global Finance function. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, high-impact environment where accuracy, collaboration, and delivering against deadlines are key.

As a Financial Systems Intern, you'll develop an understanding of Hilton's financial systems and processes while working with teams across Finance, Technology, Global Support and external vendor partners. You’ll build analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills while contributing to system enhancements, process improvements, and global enhancement initiatives that support Hilton’s worldwide operations, creating a strong foundation for a future career in finance, systems, or technology.

You'll gain an appreciation of how a global organisation operates behind the scenes through collaboration with international teams and hands-on experience across a range of financial applications. In addition, you'll develop an understanding of financial controls and governance processes while gaining exposure to automation, digital transformation, and emerging AI-enabled finance technologies.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting user administration activities and system administration tasks in BlackLine, including user access reviews, scheduling imports, organisational structure updates, and country rollouts.
  • Configuring expense types and maintaining override tables.
  • Troubleshooting end-user issues related to system access and functionality & supporting testing activities for system enhancements and new projects.
  • Maintaining training materials and application documentation to ensure they remain accurate and up to date.
  • Participating in project meetings and gaining exposure to system implementations, global rollouts, and enhancement initiatives.
  • Analysing system data and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, user experience, and process effectiveness.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking individuals who embody the Hilton Values in addition to the following criteria:

  • A current bachelor’s or master’s student completing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or other equivalent, that includes a required 12-month year in industry placement.

  • Availability to begin full-time employment on 5th July 2027, for a full-time 12-month placement.

  • You must have the independent right to work in the UK for the full duration of the 12-month placement. Please note that this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route, so we are unable to consider applications from candidates who would require sponsorship. If you hold a visa or status that allows you to work in the UK full-time without sponsorship (e.g. Settled Status, Pre-Settled Status, where a 12-month work placement is a permitted, required & assessed part of your UK University degree, or other independent work permissions), you are welcome to apply.

  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).

  • You should be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in Finance.

  • Able to demonstrate a high level of numerical and analytical capability.
