We are looking for graduates to join our Engagement team in 2027. This is an opportunity to work in a leading engineering and professional services consultancy, helping people understand and engage with projects that shape where they live, work and travel. About Your Role and the Team
As a graduate in our Planning Engagement team, you’ll help people understand and engage with projects that can shape where they live, work and travel. You’ll turn technical information into clear, accessible communications, support consultation activity and help project teams listen to feedback so schemes can develop in a responsible and informed way.
You could support engagement on major projects across areas such as transport, energy, utilities, regeneration and infrastructure, helping communities, stakeholders and project teams understand proposals and contribute to the development of responsible, informed schemes.
From preparing consultation materials and stakeholder updates to supporting events, analysing feedback and working alongside planners, engineers and environmental specialists, you’ll build your understanding of how effective engagement helps projects progress while reflecting the views and needs of the people they affect.
What We’re Looking For
You will have, or be on track to achieve, at least a 2:2 in a relevant master’s degree. Please check the degree backgrounds considered for our graduate roles via our Graduate Website: Planning and Consents Graduate Opportunities | WSP

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
