Our Corporate Infrastructure business areas are what underpins the success of the entire organisation. These are the functions that support the business, helping us deliver innovative financial solutions that set Nomura apart in the global marketplace. In our highly competitive and fast-paced industry, strong infrastructure teams are fundamental to our success. Work in these areas with us and you’ll be operating at the forefront of your field, as well as gaining a valuable insight into how Nomura operates on a global scale. The Risk Industrial Placement Programme aims to give you exposure to Operational Risk, New Business Group, Credit Risk, and Market Risk.
Programme Overview
We offer Industrial Placements to students who are interested in learning about the banking business. The programme will provide you with the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge, gain valuable on-the-job training, understand our culture, and create new networks. The first week of the placement is classroom-based training to enhance your key technical skills and enable you to perform in your team during the internship. Following the training week, you will join the Credit Risk department for the remainder of the placement year and complete tasks at a similar level to a first-year Analyst. At the end of the placement, strong performers will receive offers to join our Graduate Programme. Additional sessions during the year include soft skill sessions, product presentations, business overviews, as well as social events.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
