Benefits of an industry placement
"One benefit of completing a sandwich placement is being able to experience your degree in action and put into practice the knowledge obtained whilst studying. I know when I return to university I will have a greater depth of understanding about my course and the placement could even lead to an early offer on the Graduate Programme."
"As a sandwich placement student on the rural pathway, no one day is the same, you will receive the same exposure as a Graduate. In a typical day, a sandwich placement student could be gaining experience walking boundaries and inspecting properties, collating comparable evidence for valuations, dealing with residential, commercial or agricultural landlord and tenant issues, carrying out compulsory purchase advice or negotiating terms for access agreements and easements. The breadth of experience that Savills Placement Students obtain is second to none."

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
