Summary
Kick-start your career with one of the largest independent accountancy firms in the North West. As a Trainee at RPG, you will gain hands-on experience working with a wide range of clients while studying towards your qualifications. Hours
Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week. We offer flexi-time to start between 8am and 10am and finish between 4pm and 6pm.
Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Work towards a structured professional development plan.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and management accounts.
- Assist with audit assignments, including fieldwork and documentation.
- Communicate with clients to obtain information and answer queries.
- Develop strong client relationships and provide excellent service.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across different service lines.
- Gain experience of accounting, audit, taxation and wider business matters.
- Maintain accurate working papers and engagement documentation.
- Support engagement teams with planning, execution and completion of assignments.
- Develop commercial awareness and technical accounting knowledge.

What you'll learn
Build trusted and sustainable relationships with individuals and organisations. Consistently support individuals and collaborate to achieve results as part of a team. Influence the impact of business decisions on relevant and affected communities based on an appreciation of different organisations and the environments in which they operate. Communicate in a clear, articulate and appropriate manner. Adapt communications to suit different situations, individuals or teams. Identify ethical dilemmas, understand the implications and behave appropriately. Understand their legal responsibilities, both within the letter and the spirit of the law, as well as be aware of the procedures for reporting concerns over potentially unethical activities. Take ownership of allocated projects and effectively manage their own time and the time of others. Demonstrate good project management skills to deliver high quality work within the appropriate timeline. Act as a role model and motivate others to deliver results. Evaluate information quickly and draw accurate conclusions. Assess a problem from multiple angles to ensure all relevant issues are considered. Gather the appropriate facts and evidence in order to make decisions effectively.

Training schedule
You will complete a structured apprenticeship programme combining practical workplace experience with professional study. Training is delivered by First Intuition and includes progression towards the ICAEW ACA qualification. Depending on your educational background and team placement, you may first complete the AAT Level 4 qualification before progressing to ACA studies. You will receive paid study leave, dedicated tuition support and ongoing mentoring throughout your development.

Applicants should be enthusiastic, motivated and committed to studying towards professional accountancy qualifications. We welcome applications from both school leavers and graduates. Candidates should have a genuine interest in accountancy, business and professional services. Applicants will be required to pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and will be required to have the Right To Work in the UK.
