As a Graduate Digital Infrastructure Engineer, you'll join a collaborative team of experts who are delivering innovative digital solutions across some of the world's most exciting and complex projects. Working within our Building Services team, you'll help shape the digital systems that underpin critical infrastructure, supporting buildings, transport networks, energy facilities, and essential services that communities rely on every day.

The Opportunity
Digital infrastructure engineering sits at the intersection of technology, engineering, and the built environment. As digital transformation accelerates across industries, you'll play a key role in helping clients harness technology to improve performance, enhance safety, increase efficiency, and deliver better outcomes for people and communities.
Working in our Building Services team, you'll contribute to the design and delivery of intelligent infrastructure solutions. Through structured development, mentoring, and hands-on project experience, you'll build the technical, professional, and collaborative skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry.
What You'll Do
As a Graduate Digital Infrastructure Engineer, you'll support the design and delivery of a wide range of digital systems and technologies, including:
- Telecommunication systems that enable reliable connectivity and communication.
- Electronic physical security systems, including CCTV, access control, and intruder detection solutions.
- Structured cabling systems that form the backbone of modern digital infrastructure.
- Active data networks and IT systems that support efficient and secure operations.
- Life safety systems, including fire detection, public address, voice alarm, and emergency voice communication systems.
- Audio-visual solutions that enhance communication, collaboration, and user experience.
- Building and industrial control systems that enable smarter, more efficient and sustainable operations.
You'll also
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, technology specialists, and project teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Contribute to the development of innovative and sustainable infrastructure designs.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, site visits, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Support technical analysis, calculations, specifications, and design documentation.
- Develop an understanding of emerging digital technologies and their application within the built environment.
- Help clients create safer, smarter, and more connected environments.

Candidate Specification
At Mott MacDonald, we’re looking for curious, motivated graduates who want to make a real difference. Join our purpose-driven teams where your ideas matter, your growth is supported, and your work enhances the world we live in.
To be eligible for this opportunity, you will have less than 12 months’ relevant experience (excluding placements) and have a bachelors and a masters degree (obtained no earlier than 2025) or expected to achieve one of the following degree disciplines:
- Electronic Engineering
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Telecommunications Engineering
- Computer Systems Engineering
- Building Services Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Network Engineering
- Computer Science
- Digital Engineering
- Or a related discipline
This opportunity will require you to be eligible to achieve security clearance. Security clearance is dictated by the types of projects we work on and normally requires you to be a UK British national or lived in the UK for five years or more.
In your application, you should aim to demonstrate your genuine interest in both the opportunity and in joining Mott MacDonald. You can do this by highlighting any relevant experience or interests - such as modules you've studied, previous work experience, or any research you've undertaken about our company, values, and projects.

UK Immigration
Mott MacDonald Ltd. are not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK. This decision is as a consequence of the changes made to the Skilled Worker route by the UK Government in April 2024.
Our ethos is to develop, train and retain our graduates and therefore we are looking for a long-term relationship with our graduates. For this reason, we cannot accept applications from candidates who would be working under the Graduate visa route or other time-limited visas, (irrespective of visa duration), due to their temporary nature and the requirement for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route in future.
