We are recruiting for Year in Industry placements for the following teams and locations:

Civil – Maritime Engineering

  • Locations: London, Basingstoke, or Newcastle
  • Degrees considered: MEng Civil Engineering

Civil – Bridge Engineering

  • Locations: Birmingham or Manchester
  • Degrees considered: MEng Civil Engineering

Geotech & Tunnelling

  • Locations: Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, or Hertford
  • Degrees considered: MEng Civil or Geotechnical Engineering

Energy – Energy Networks

  • Locations: Glasgow, Edinburgh, or Newcastle
  • Degrees considered: Electrical Engineering

You will be embedded in an enthusiastic, friendly and supportive team working closely providing you with a rewarding placement. You will work with internal and external stakeholders, collaborate with colleagues, and adapt to dynamic project environments.

Scholarships at WSP

At the end of a placement, both students and their hosting teams will be invited to share feedback. If the experience has been positive and you are keen to return, WSP may offer a scholarship to support the remainder of your studies.

Upon graduation, students who have successfully completed their placement and received strong feedback will be considered for a permanent graduate role, subject to availability. Successful students will then join WSP’s structured 2-year Graduate Development Programme.

Our two-year Graduate Development Programme is designed to help you build the skills, experience, and professional network needed to thrive at the start of your career with us. Through a blend of structured learning, mentoring, and hands-on project experience, you will be supported every step of the way.

Candidates must complete the application form in full, including all specific questions. If successful at this stage, you will be invited to complete an online assessment, containing a Cognitive Assessment, personality questionnaire, and Situational Judgement Test (SJT). All stages are essential parts of our early career’s recruitment process.
