Assistant Psychologist – Clinical Health Psychology Service
A fixed term, 12 months, vacancy has arisen in our Department for an assistant psychologist to work within the Clinical Health Psychology service. This post will support existing multi-disciplinary clinicians in the delivery of services relating to energy limiting conditions, including promoting the bio-psychosocial model, living well with the condition, and self-management.
Applications are invited from enthusiastic and energetic individuals who want to play key roles in offering evidence-based psychological interventions to this population. This is an exciting new post to increase the reach and capacity of psychological approaches to this client group and its workforce. The role will involve contributing to the delivery of energy limiting condition education sessions and supporting service development activities; therefore, the post holder must be willing and able to work from the designated NHS Dumfries and Galloway base location as their primary place of work.
This post requires the ability to travel independently throughout Dumfries and Galloway to meet the needs of the service.
Department Overview
The Department, which now has a complement of around 90 staff, has psychologists and psychological therapists in all major specialties and is a friendly, supportive and lively place of work. We currently have strong links with Edinburgh and Stirling/Dundee Universities and take trainees from the Edinburgh Doctorate course and from the MSc course in Stirling/Dundee. We also provide placements and supervision for trainee CBT and other psychological therapists. The post has dedicated CPD and supervision time.
