Job Opportunity: Children's Hearing Service at NHS Lothian
The Children's Hearing service at NHS Lothian is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the paediatric audiology team in an exciting role where you will support children and their families. This is an ideal opportunity to develop your paediatric skills with a supportive team.
- Role Overview: The post involves working alongside existing paediatric audiologists and assistant staff in a purpose-built Children’s Hospital in the beautiful, historic city of Edinburgh.
- Support for New Graduates: If you are a new graduate, we can offer a strong supportive start to your paediatric audiology career, where you can consolidate your academic learning in a friendly, progressive and inclusive team.
- Clinical Duties: The post holder will support the service clinically carrying out paediatric diagnostic hearing assessments in the ENT clinic and with children over the age of 4 years. Training opportunities to develop further skills will certainly be offered to enthusiastic paediatric focused team members.
- Clinical Care: Clinical duties will include delivering high levels of care to the service’s patients via face-to-face appointments at The Royal Hospital for Children and Young People and at the Lauriston Hospital.
- Service Improvement: Service improvement and development are central to the vision for forward the paediatric audiology service provision at NHS Lothian.
- Diagnostic Testing: Other services that the sider team undertake include diagnostic testing of children aged 0 – 18 years of age to include ABR, ASSR, Visual Reinforcement Audiometry, Performance Audiometry, Pure Tone Audiometry, TEAOE testing, Otoscopy and Tympanometry.
- Hearing Aids and Implants: We undertake the fitting of hearing aids for all ages and we have an established national microtia service where we participate in the fitting of implantable devices.
- Service Improvements: Service improvements duties which include contributions to SOPs, patient information audit and quality improvement.
- Work Hours: The service currently runs clinics Monday to Friday between the hours of 08.00 and 18.00 with the expectation of working 36 hours between these times dependent on service delivery.
