About The Organisation

NHS Lanarkshire is comprised of Acute Services (which currently provide hospital based services over 3 main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services to local communities and surrounding areas.

The Role

To provide a high quality AHP service (OT, Physio, Dietetics, SLT) to children, young people and their families, within the CAMHS service. This includes working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the department’s policies and procedures including:

  • the assessment of young people and their families referred to the AHP Team
  • this may include operational responsibilities including clinical supervision of others and responsibilities for managing team / teams across CAMHS
  • the provision of therapeutic interventions to these young people and their families utilising a range of therapeutic modalities as required. The post holder will be expected to work with the full range of presenting difficulties referred to the Team.
  • the provision of specialist CAMHS AHP consultation to other CAMHS staff relating to a young person’s need for AHP support to support their mental health
  • To provide clinical advice and support to other CAMHS staff, relating to AHP intervention/support
  • To ensure compliance with NHSL CAMHS process, procedure and standards in striving to maintain and develop efficient systems.
  • Lead and develop the CAMHS AHP team within local and national policies and procedures

Additional Information Specific To The Role

This post is based in CAMHS AHP Team providing services within the geographical area of Lanarkshire. The AHP Team includes OT, SLT, Physiotherapy and Dietetics.

There are well established multi-disciplinary teams in CAMHS which can include Psychiatry, Clinical Psychology and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Clinicians (CAMHC’s).

NHS Lanarkshire CAMHS provide a service to infants, children and young people up presenting with moderate to severe Mental Health presentations.

The Service Comprises

  • 4 locality teams
  • Unscheduled Care Team
  • Paediatric Psychology
  • Care Experienced Team – CEYP
  • Team for Children and Young people impacted by parent/carer mental ill health – Reach Out
  • Psychotherapy

In This Key Role, You Will

Responsible for the strategic planning and operational management of CAMHS AHP Service across Lanarkshire to ensure staff governance and effective use of available resource. This includes:

  • HR functions
  • Workforce Planning
  • Policy development
  • Financial Management
  • Performance Management & Career development.
  • Quality & Clinical Improvement
  • Service delivery, development and re-design
  • Risk Management
  • Budget responsibility for designated CAMHS AHP Service. This is a complex budget build encompassing multiple professions.
  • Responsible for the clinical and managerial leadership and development of all registered CAMHS AHP Service staff and support workers within the service. This includes direct responsibility for the supervision, performance review/appraisal and personal development planning of highly specialist clinicians within the area of responsibility
  • Professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own clinical practice

What You'll Bring

  • Degree level education or equivalent pre-registration AHP qualification
  • Registered Member of the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Breadth of CPD and additional postgraduate or post-registration study equivalent to Masters Level and relevant to scope of practice/care group. This includes specialist short courses, post graduate accredited courses and Masters modules
  • Evidence of formal management or leadership courses either to Masters level, or a combination or short accredited courses with evidenced experiential learning.
  • A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence
  • Comprehensive knowledge of national policy and legislation; clinical guidelines and standards; and professional agendas specific to CAMHS & Children & Young People
  • Previous experience as a CAMHS clinician/Team Leader/ Manager / with demonstrated management and leadership skills across multi-disciplinary and inter-agency working practices
  • Flexible working patterns to meet the requirements of the post.
