Exciting Opportunity for a Band 6 Dietitian in NHS Lothian Diabetes Dietetic Team
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Dietitian to join the NHS Lothian Diabetes Dietetic Team.
This post sits within the NHS Lothian Dietetic Service and provides specialist dietetic care for people with diabetes across a Lothian-wide service. The successful candidate will work with patients attending diabetes outpatient clinics, delivering both individual consultations face to face or virtually and group education. This part-time post offers an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and skills across the full spectrum of diabetes care while becoming a valued member of a highly regarded multidisciplinary team.

Team Overview
The Diabetes Dietetic Team is a well-established and supportive service comprising administrative staff, a Band 4 Dietetic Assistant Practitioner, and Band 5, 6 and 7 Dietitians. The team works closely with the wider Diabetes MDT, including consultants, specialist nurses, psychologists and other allied health professionals to provide high-quality, person-centred care.
As this is a Lothian-wide service, team members work across several sites. The successful applicant could be based at the Western General Hospital (WGH), Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE) or St John's Hospital (SJH), depending on service requirements, and will be expected to work collaboratively across the service.
Responsibilities
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the education and development of the future workforce through involvement in student training across A, B and C placements. They will also provide clinical support and supervision to colleagues within the NHS Lothian Diabetes Dietetic Team.
Staff Development
We are strongly committed to staff development, continuing professional development (CPD) and clinical governance. The successful candidate will benefit from a comprehensive support structure including regular clinical supervision, annual appraisal, peer support, protected learning opportunities and ongoing training to further develop specialist clinical skills.
Requirements
We welcome applications from HCPC-registered dietitians with relevant clinical experience and a keen interest in diabetes care. Applicants should be enthusiastic, motivated and committed to working collaboratively as part of a dedicated team to deliver high-quality care and improve outcomes for people living with diabetes across NHS Lothian.
