Children & Young People’s Speech and Language Therapy Service
Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist/s
Posts: 1x Fixed Term 14.4hr and 1x Permanent 28.8hr
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and HCPC registered speech and language therapists to join the Community SLT team in West Lothian. We have a skill-mixed team of SLTs, SLT Assistants and admin staff working in clinics, schools and nurseries across West Lothian.
The post-holder will be based in a community health centre in West Lothian and will work with a mixed paediatric caseload in the local community. You will be part of a skill-mixed team providing SLT support across the range of schools and nurseries in the locality. This may also include Enhanced Support Bases and/or Special Schools. You will work closely with partners, including health and education colleagues. The post-holder will manage their own caseload and will be well supported within the team.
You will be a creative, enthusiastic and flexible therapist with some experience of working with children and young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs. For new graduates we offer a comprehensive and supportive induction programme to complete your NQP year and further opportunities to develop skills in all areas of paediatric practice.

You will be surrounded by a friendly, experienced and committed Speech and Language Therapy team in Lothian which is innovative and supportive. Support and development is provided for therapists through line management, mentoring and supervision. All therapists have a personal development plan with protected learning time and are encouraged to extend their skills through a variety of CPD activities.

As from 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
