About You

You will be an experienced and confident pharmacy technician, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, with a passion for improving pharmaceutical care in primary care settings.

You Should Have

• Substantial post-qualification experience in pharmacy practice and a keen interest in developing the pharmacy technician profession
• Proven management and leadership experience, including line management responsibility
• Experience of resolving conflict and negotiating with colleagues to bring positive resolution
• Strong communication, analytical and IT skills
• Good knowledge of medicines management and current developments in GP practice-based pharmacotherapy work
• A flexible, adaptable and self-directed approach, with excellent organisational abilities
• Experience of using prescribing data systems (such as PRISMS) for analysis and reporting would be an advantage for the efficiency lead post.

Essential Qualifications

• Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
• National Certification in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent.
• SVQ level III qualification in pharmacy sciences or equivalent.
• HNC in Pharmacy Services Development and Management, equivalent qualification or experience.

Any applicant who does not hold the HNC in Pharmacy Services Development and Management MUST complete the Band 5 Pharmacy Technician Higher Level HNC Equivalence Mapping Assessment Form and submit it with the application as a supporting document. As from 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
