Assistant Practitioner Healthcare Scientist (Band 4) - Blood Sciences - Reception Supervisor
Overview
This role offers an opportunity for a qualified individual with relevant Biomedical Science experience and qualifications (e.g. HND, Foundation level Science Degree) to join NHS Lothian, Department of Laboratory Medicine, Blood Science Laboratories.
Responsibilities
- Core laboratory duties
- Combined Reception area management
- People management tasks (TURAS, SSTS, rota development and deployment)
- Stock and equipment management
- Ensuring Health and Safety compliance
Requirements
- Flexibility and a strong work ethic
- Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment
- Willingness to cover extended day, weekend, and overnight working following training and competency assessment

Pay and Benefits
- Effective from 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week, with a corresponding increase in the hourly rate.
