Specialist Pharmacist

NHS Lothian Pharmacy & Medicines Service

Edinburgh Cancer Centre - Western General Hospital

Join our dedicated Pharmacy & Medicines team and play a key role in delivering high-quality cancer care services within NHS Lothian. Due to internal promotions within our existing team, we have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic pharmacists to contribute to the delivery of innovative treatments, clinical trials, and service development in a dynamic healthcare setting.

About The Role

The Edinburgh Cancer Centre (ECC) provides specialist cancer services for the Southeast of Scotland Cancer Network, treating oncology and haematology patients across day-case, outpatient, and inpatient settings. As a specialist tertiary referral centre, ECC also supports a teenage and young adult unit and has a broad research portfolio, participating in a wide range of cancer clinical trials.

As part of our supportive pharmacy team, you will be involved in:

  • Delivering high-quality pharmacy services to cancer patients.
  • Providing clinical pharmacy support in haematology and oncology inpatient, day-case, and outpatient areas.
  • Rotations through Homecare services and supporting the ChemoCare (Chemotherapy Electronic Prescribing and Administration System) team.
  • Contributing to service improvement projects and personal development initiatives, such as independent prescribing roles.
  • Support and develop other members of the pharmacy team.

Why Join Us?

We are committed to fostering an environment where our pharmacy team members can flourish, develop, and make the best use of their skills. With new treatments on the horizon, including clinical trials, this is an exciting time to join our team. We provide extensive training opportunities and career progression pathways, making this an excellent role for a rotational pharmacist or a specialist pharmacist looking to expand their clinical portfolio.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
