NHS Lothian Pharmacy & Medicines Team Opportunity
Join our dedicated Pharmacy & Medicines team and play a key role in delivering high-quality service to patients in NHS Lothian. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic pharmacist to contribute to clinical pharmacy service delivery across surgical specialities and aseptic unit based at the Western General Hospital Edinburgh.
About the Role
This is an opportunity to work within a pharmacy team providing specialist clinical pharmacy service to surgical areas. These areas include Colorectal and Urology surgery. The post holder will also deputise for aseptic services manager as part of their role in technical services. The aseptic unit prepares parenteral nutrition, outpatient chemotherapy, clinical trials, CIVAS and ATMP products. The role will allow the post holder to develop their practice in line with the Royal College of Pharmacy Advanced Pharmacy Practice Curriculum, working towards and achieving credentialling as part of your professional development.
The post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of the clinical pharmacy service and aseptic service provision. This will be an equal split between both areas.
About You
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist with a passion for delivering exceptional clinical care.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- A Master of Pharmacy Degree (or equivalent)
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Completed training or equivalent competence mapped to the Post-registration hospital pharmacy aseptic experience.

Skills and Attributes
- Experience in proactively influencing prescribing, using clinical knowledge to optimise patient care.
- A strong patient-focused approach, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, enabling effective decision-making in a fast-paced surgical environment and aseptic services.
- Great attention to detail for aseptic product release and contributing to the pharmaceutical quality system within the aseptic unit.
- A proactive attitude, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
