NHS Scotland School Nursing Role

About the Role

The postholder will play a lead role in the provision of the refocused role for school nursing in Scotland with a focus on key areas of intervention and support for school age children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and implement service agenda’s and embed national policy direction locally within the designated educational and community settings they are responsible for.
  • Ensure quality of care and consistency in the delivery of services across NHS Lothian.
  • Have day-to-day management responsibility for a designated school nursing team.
  • Lead, coordinate, and supervise the school nursing team in the delivery of the School Nursing Pathway.
  • Ensure that the needs of the 5-19 school age population and their families are met.

Requirements

  • PVG Scheme membership/record is required.
  • If not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult), an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before starting in the role.
