2D Design Director

Brand, Campaigns & Environments

Salary: Up to £85,000, dependent on experience
Location: London
Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days in the studio, 2 days from home)
Sector: Brand, Brand Experience, Campaigns, Environmental Graphics, Spatial Design, Experiential

About the Studio

This London-based creative studio partners with some remarkable brands, delivering work that spans campaigns, product launches, brand experiences, and spatial environments.

The quality of the work is already well established. The studio has built its reputation on thoughtful ideas, strong execution, and a genuinely multidisciplinary approach, with a 3D and spatial team who are used to seeing ambitious ideas realised in the real world.

The founders have now made a conscious decision to invest in the 2D side of that offering: brand, campaign, and environmental graphics. The intention is to give the studio's brand thinking the same depth and reputation as its work in physical space, so that ideas are shaped as brand ideas from the outset rather than applied to environments after the fact.

There is already work pipelined to support it, and strong commercial foundations behind it. This is investment in a growing discipline, not a hopeful bet.

About the Role

This is not a turnaround role.

The foundations are already in place. The opportunity is to elevate them, and to build the 2D and brand offering into a defining part of what the studio is known for.

As 2D Design Director, you'll lead brand, campaign, and environmental graphics work, bringing greater cohesion to how ideas are developed and expressed across campaigns, environments, content, and experiences. You'll strengthen the brand thinking that underpins the work, ensuring projects feel connected, distinctive, and strategically considered from first concept through to final installation.

You'll work hand in hand with the 3D team, developing ideas together rather than in sequence, so that graphics, identity, and physical space are conceived as one brand experience.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You'll also work closely with the founders to shape and build the team around you, with real influence over who joins, how the discipline is structured, and how the studio's creative offering grows.

The early focus is on understanding the culture, building relationships, and bringing clarity to existing processes. Over time, you'll become a key voice in defining what the next chapter looks like.

Your days will look something like this...

  • Lead creative thinking across brand, brand experience, campaign, environmental graphics, and experiential projects
  • Develop and refine concepts that translate consistently across multiple channels and touchpoints, from campaign assets through to applied graphics in physical space
  • Direct environmental graphics and applied branding, including wayfinding, signage, super-graphics, and retail and exhibition environments
  • Partner closely with the 3D team from concept stage, so brand and space are developed together as a single idea
  • Hold the creative thread across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring clarity and cohesion throughout
  • Work with the founders to build and shape the 2D team, contributing to hiring, structure, and how the discipline develops
  • Mentor, develop, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of designers and creatives
  • Deliver constructive creative direction, feedback, and critique that improves both the work and the people producing it
  • Collaborate with project teams to scope briefs, manage timelines, and balance creative ambition with commercial realities
  • Present work directly to clients, building trusted relationships and navigating feedback with confidence
  • Contribute to the long-term evolution of the studio's creative output, standards, and ways of working

You might be our perfect match if...

  • You have significant experience leading creative teams across brand, campaign, environmental graphics, experiential, or spatial projects
  • Your portfolio demonstrates strong strategic thinking as well as outstanding creative execution, and shows brand ideas realised in physical environments as well as in campaign work
  • You understand how brand ideas translate across physical, digital, and experiential channels, and how a brand behaves at architectural scale
  • You have experience collaborating with 3D, spatial, or interior designers, and you're comfortable working in materials, scale, and production realities as well as in artwork
  • You have experience managing creative teams, mentoring designers, and raising standards through leadership
  • You're interested in helping build a discipline, not just running projects, and would relish shaping a team alongside the founders
  • You are confident presenting to clients and managing senior stakeholder relationships
  • You can balance creative ambition with commercial realities, budgets, timelines, and delivery requirements
  • You enjoy connecting ideas across disciplines rather than operating within a single specialism
  • You're motivated by making good work even better rather than fixing broken environments
