2nd Line Support Engineer – Contract

Location: Hereford – 1 day per week on-site

Rate: Up to £180 per day

Contract: 3 months | Inside IR35

Working Pattern: Hybrid

Our client is looking for a 2nd Line Support Engineer to join their internal IT Service Desk on an initial 3-month contract.

Working within an end-user environment, you’ll provide hands-on 2nd line support to colleagues across the organisation, taking ownership of incidents escalated from the 1st Line team and ensuring users receive a responsive and professional service.

This is a hybrid role requiring 1 day per week on-site in Hereford.

What you’ll do

  • Provide 2nd line technical support across a Microsoft-based environment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and user access issues
  • Manage escalated incidents and service requests through to resolution
  • Support Microsoft 365, Windows desktops and common business applications
  • Troubleshoot Active Directory, user accounts and permissions
  • Support laptops, desktops, peripherals and other end-user devices
  • Escalate more complex technical issues where required
  • Maintain clear and accurate records within the service management system

You’ll work closely with the wider IT team to provide a reliable service and ensure issues are resolved within agreed timescales.

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience in a 2nd Line Support / Service Desk position
  • Strong Windows desktop troubleshooting skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft 365
  • Experience supporting Active Directory and user administration
  • Confident troubleshooting hardware, software and end-user issues
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to take ownership of incidents through to resolution
