2nd Line Support Engineer

Location: Derry/Belfast

Contract: 6 months

Work Setup: 5 days onsite

Our client is a leading UK-based insurance and financial services organisation, offering a wide range of products and services to individuals and businesses. As part of a global group, the company combines international expertise with a strong focus on customer service, innovation, and sustainable growth.

What you'll do

  • Provide L2 onsite support for Windows endpoints, peripherals, and workplace technology, diagnosing hardware, software, operating system, and connectivity issues.
  • Support device builds, replacements, refreshes, software installations, and technology changes, acting as the onsite point of contact for remote IT teams.
  • Troubleshoot Microsoft SCCM client health, software distribution, deployment failures, patching, and endpoint remediation.
  • Identify and remediate endpoint vulnerabilities, failed security patches, and compliance issues using SCCM and manual intervention where required.
  • Investigate application and third-party software issues, including installation, removal, upgrades, and remediation of vulnerable software.
  • Take ownership of incidents through to resolution, maintaining clear documentation and coordinating escalations with Security, EUC, Infrastructure, and other resolver teams.

What you bring

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft SCCM, including software deployment management, client health checks, and troubleshooting failed installations or updates.
  • Experience remediating endpoint vulnerabilities, including fixing vulnerable software and non-compliant devices and validating successful remediation.
  • Strong experience with Windows patching and software management, including deploying security updates, upgrading or removing applications, and resolving patch failures.
  • Solid enterprise L2 desktop support experience with Windows 11, hardware, peripheral, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to manage backlogs and incidents, prioritise workloads, drive issues through to resolution, and coordinate effectively with users, security teams, and central IT.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, OneDrive, and networking fundamentals, with familiarity with Intune, Autopilot, PowerShell, and BIOS, firmware, or driver management.
