Freelance 3D Designer Wanted - Witch Army

Project Scope

Project Title: Witch Army

Description: We are creating a new, original 10-minute VR prototype exploring the idea of an antidote to propaganda through immersive technology, composition, choreography, and sound. The visual language centers on audio-driven sculpture and erosion: environments and bodies that can be progressively 'peeled' — clothing, skin, structure — to explore what remains when identity markers are stripped away. You'll be building dissolve/erosion shader-driven assets.

You will be working with composer and sound designer Liza Bec and XR designer Rosie Chen.

Content note: The piece involves denunciation and marking people as "other".

The work is supported by Arts Council England Project Grants.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Proficiency with major 3D modeling software (Maya, Blender, 3ds Max or equivalent)
  • Solid material creation skills (PBR materials, texture painting; experience with Substance Painter/Designer a plus)
  • Experience with character/prop animation (rigging, skinning, keyframe animation)
  • Familiarity with model optimization and UV layout, with an understanding of real-time engine performance constraints
  • Basic shader / technical art knowledge
  • Familiarity with shader graph / node-based shader tools (Unity Shader Graph, Blender's shader nodes)

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
