Further expansion of the past 4 years has come via organic growth and the acquisitions of Cyber Security Specialists Cybersity, Hosting Provider YouCloudIT and leading MSPs, Mango, IT-4Growth and PCCSUK.

Connectus Business Solutions Ltd has a heritage of 20 years’ experience working with public sector Clients, Technology Partners, Schools, SME’s and large corporations across the UK to provide our managed services solutions to enable them to work faster, smarter and more securely.
We help our clients mitigate cost, risk and complexity via our simple One Provider approach, providing our customers with tools for growth through our range of services covering connectivity, network and cybersecurity, voice, IT support and data storage and backup.
Job Overview
The 3rd line engineer will lead the creation of strategies and plans that define how technology should be utilised to enable an organization’s overall business strategy. Apply knowledge of best practices to define how technology will shape the overall strategy Maintains knowledge of evolving trends in technology strategy and management and applies those to develop innovative approaches to deliver value for the organisation.
They will be responsible for engaging in new business opportunities (as a pre-sales resource) to ensure the overall design of the solution matches the customer requirements and business, they will be required to design technical solutions that can be communicated in low level technical detail; enabling the solutions to be implemented, they will be responsible for multiple technologies.

The ideal candidate should have at least 3-4 years’ experience working within a 2nd / 3rd line support role, be customer service focused, naturally strives to be and do better, wants to progress their IT Career to the next level and has knowledge in Microsoft Technologies, Server Virtualization and Enterprise Networking. The candidate should be self-sufficient and have a proactive approach to their role, able to work under pressure and have initiative.
Working as part of a geographically dispersed support team the candidate will be required to assist their engineering colleagues as and when they’re needed.
The role will be diverse as we work with different types of clients and environments so it’s important that the candidate is able to adapt to situations under pressure to find resolutions.
Responsibilities And Duties
Technical Design / Support
- Review and recommend new systems to build business cases and following the process through design, build and implementation that improve the end user experience, de-risk future service strategy and increase ROI
- Reviewing internal systems / architecture and ensuring that those systems function together in the most automated way
- Responsible for ensuring all internal and external devices are monitored and Patched to the latest versions
- Provide 3rd Line technical support to the engineering team as and when required to support the Incident management processes
- Ensuring that technical documentation is kept up to date and relevant for our Internal and customer systems
- Assist in ensuring the technical team have the relevant skills developed to support our solutions
- Analysing the threats and risks that the organisation face and developing solutions for them
- Acting as the focal point for any security breaches/investigations, recommending the best course of action
- Oversee enterprise security system
- Implement new strategies, monitor activity, and target potential cyber threats
- Establish and maintain network performance.

Competencies;
- Comes from a Technical/ IT background but now working in a more operational/strategic role
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in 2nd / 3rd line position (Essential)
- Previous experience working for a Managed Service Provider (Desirable)
- Full UK Driving License (Essential)
- Excellent communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in the technical delivery of Cloud (Azure and AWS)
- TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
- Server virtualisation (Hyper-V / VMware)
- LAN/WAN Technologies (Routers, Switches, Firewalls)
- Basic understanding of Fiber Optic communications
- Basic understanding of VOIP, SIP and ISDN
- Basic understanding of ADSL/VSDL, FTTC, FTTP and Point to Point technologies
- Experience working with Ubiquiti Unifi products – AP’s, Switches and USG’s (Beneficial but not essential)
- Experience in working on SonicWALL & Fortinet Firewalls (Beneficial but not essential)
- Certifications relating to the required technologies would be beneficial.
