3rd Line Engineer, Azure, IAM, Customer Designs
We are looking for an experienced 3rd Line Engineer Azure to join our growing consultancy team and play a key role in designing and delivering secure, resilient, and cost-effective Microsoft Azure solutions for our customers. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on cloud professional who enjoys working directly with customers, leading technical workshops, designing solutions, and delivering successful cloud transformation projects.
The Role
Reporting to the Technical Team Leader, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and successful delivery of Microsoft Azure solutions across a varied portfolio of enterprise customers. You'll work across the full project lifecycle, from discovery and solution design through to implementation, testing, and transition into support. While Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) experience is important, the role encompasses a broad range of Azure technologies covering infrastructure, identity, networking, governance, automation, migration, and security.
Working alongside project managers, architects, consultants, and operational teams, you will provide technical leadership, ensure delivery quality, and act as a trusted advisor to customers throughout each engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Solution Discovery & Design
- Lead customer workshops, technical assessments, and discovery sessions
- Translate business requirements into scalable Azure architectures
- Design Azure landing zones, subscriptions, management groups, and governance frameworks
- Produce high-level and low-level technical designs
- Develop implementation plans, estimates, risk assessments, and bills of materials
- Ensure solutions align with security, resiliency, performance, and cost optimization best practices
Azure & Azure Virtual Desktop Delivery
- Deploy, configure, and migrate Azure environments using repeatable, supportable methodologies
- Design and implement Azure Virtual Desktop solutions including:
- Host pools and session hosts
- Application delivery
- Image management
- Identity and access integration
- User profiles and storage
- Security, monitoring, and scaling
- Deliver Azure services across infrastructure, networking, compute, storage, backup, and disaster recovery
- Plan and execute testing, cutover, and rollback activities
- Troubleshoot complex Azure, networking, and identity-related issues
Customer & Project Collaboration
- Act as a trusted technical consultant for customers and stakeholders
- Present recommendations, risks, and technical trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Work closely with project managers to manage timelines, dependencies, and project risks
- Produce operational documentation and knowledge transfer materials
- Support successful handover into managed services or customer operational teams

What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- Strong experience designing and delivering Microsoft Azure solutions
- Experience with Azure landing zones, governance, and management structures
- Strong knowledge of Azure networking, security, and identity services
- Hands-on experience delivering Azure migrations and transformation projects
- Experience implementing Azure Virtual Desktop solutions
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and automation tools
- Strong PowerShell scripting skills
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to engage confidently with customers and stakeholders
Desirable
- Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, or AZ-500
- Experience working within a consultancy, professional services, or managed services environment
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Modern Workplace, and security technologies
- Experience with Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
