Interested in commercial litigation that genuinely shapes public life? We're recruiting 4 Commercial Litigation Lawyers to join the Government Legal Department's Commercial Litigation & Dispute Resolution Team.
This is an opportunity to work on some of the most significant and high-profile commercial disputes in the country, advising central government departments on matters that are regularly scrutinised by Parliament, the courts and the media.
From major contract disputes and public procurement challenges through to intellectual property, construction and public law litigation, you'll work on complex cases that have real public impact and often involve substantial sums of public money.

- Work on complex, high-value commercial disputes
- Advise major government departments and public bodies
- Handle cases heard in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court
- Develop expertise across commercial litigation, procurement, public law and dispute resolution
- Work alongside leading Counsel and external legal experts
- Build a long-term legal career within one of the UK's largest and most respected legal organisations
What you'll be doing
- Conducting commercial litigation on behalf of the Government
- Advising clients on disputes and contentious matters
- Managing your own caseload
- Working closely with Counsel and external solicitors
- Advising on legal risk and strategic litigation decisions
- Supporting the delivery of high-profile, complex matters
- Contributing to wider knowledge sharing, training and team initiatives
What we're looking for
We're keen to hear from qualified lawyers who can demonstrate:
- Commercial contract litigation experience
- Experience managing litigation matters through the court system
- Strong analytical and legal judgement
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to think strategically and provide pragmatic advice
- A collaborative approach to working in legal teams
