Tutor Doctor Greater Manchester is looking for a confident, reliable, and engaging Maths tutor to support students with GCSE and A Level Maths.
This is a face-to-face tutoring role first and foremost, working with students in their homes across areas within reach of Altrincham, Sale, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, and nearby locations. There may also be some online tutoring opportunities where appropriate, but applicants should be willing and able to deliver in-person tuition.
About the role
You will be matched with students who need personalised one-to-one Maths support. This may include students preparing for GCSE exams, A Level students needing help with Pure, Mechanics, or Statistics, or learners who need support rebuilding confidence, closing gaps, and improving exam technique.
Sessions are usually weekly and arranged around tutor and family availability. We are particularly interested in tutors who can commit consistently over the academic year, especially through to the main exam period.

What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who is:
- Confident teaching GCSE Maths
- Confident teaching A Level Maths
- Able to explain concepts clearly and patiently
- Comfortable adapting explanations when a student does not understand the first method
- Reliable, organised, and professional
- Able to build confidence as well as improve subject knowledge
- Comfortable using exam-style questions, past papers, and mark schemes
- Able to tutor face-to-face in students’ homes
- Ideally able to travel to areas such as Altrincham, Sale, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, and surrounding locations
Experience supporting students with confidence, processing speed, anxiety, dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning differences would be helpful, but is not essential if you are patient, thoughtful, and willing to adapt your approach.

A teaching qualification is not essential, but strong subject knowledge, reliability, and the ability to support students one-to-one are essential.
Pay
Hourly rate: £18–£26 per hour, depending on experience, subject level, and suitability for the student match.
Important
