Criminology Lecturer
Contract: Fixed-term until June 2027
Hours: 18.5 hours per week
Are you passionate about Criminology and looking for an opportunity to inspire students and develop their understanding of crime and the criminal justice system?
As a Criminology Lecturer at New College Swindon, you'll join our supportive Sixth team and deliver engaging teaching on our Level 3 Applied Diploma in Criminology.
You'll help students explore contemporary issues through evidence-based enquiry, while supporting their progress, assessment and development. You'll also contribute to the continued development of an ambitious and inclusive curriculum.
What you'll do
- Plan and deliver engaging Criminology lessons.
- Monitor, assess and report on student progress and attendance.
- Support students with coursework, assessment and controlled assessments.
- Develop learning materials and activities that help students apply their knowledge.
- Maintain accurate registers and student records.
- Contribute to moderation, standardisation and quality assurance activities.
- Contribute to curriculum development and the wider Sixth team.
- Promote high expectations and positive attitudes towards learning.

What we're looking for
- A degree in Humanities or a related subject.
- A Level 5 teaching qualification, or currently working towards one.
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach Criminology at Level 3.
- Understanding of coursework requirements and assessment.
- Experience of working with tutor groups and supporting students pastorally.
- Good IT and presentation skills.
- Strong organisation, time management and communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with students.
- A commitment to safeguarding, equality, inclusion and professional development.
- Level 2 English and Maths.
