A Level Law and Criminology Teacher
Department: Sixth Form
Salary: £28,991 - £43,666 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent Full-time 37 hours per week

The Opportunity
Barnsley Sixth Form College is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and student-focused teacher to join our highly successful Sixth Form College team.
This is an exciting opportunity to teach A Level Law and Criminology, helping ambitious young people develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to progress to university, apprenticeships and careers within the legal, criminal justice and wider public sectors.
We are looking for a passionate educator who can bring their subject to life, inspire curiosity and critical thinking, and help students achieve exceptional academic outcomes.

About You
You will be passionate about Law and Criminology and committed to delivering an outstanding learning experience that motivates, challenges and inspires students to achieve their full potential.
Delivering high-quality and engaging lessons, you will use innovative teaching approaches to inspire learners and support excellent academic achievement.
You will plan and develop effective schemes of work, learning resources and assessment materials that enable students to make strong progress throughout their studies.
With a strong commitment to student success, you will support learners both academically and pastorally, creating a positive and inclusive environment where they can thrive.
Monitoring progress, providing constructive feedback and implementing appropriate interventions will be key to maximising achievement and outcomes.
Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will contribute to the continuous review and development of the curriculum, ensuring it remains ambitious, relevant and engaging. You will also play an active role in strategies that improve attendance, retention, achievement and value-added performance.

Required
- A degree in Law Criminology or a closely related subject
- A teaching qualification or the willingness to work towards one
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C4 or above or equivalent
- Experience of teaching and supporting learners in an educational setting
- Understanding and knowledge of the academic and pastoral needs of A level learners
- Experience of delivering learning to a range of learners
- Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire young people
- Ability to devise strategies to improve attendance, retention, achievement, value added and success rates
