Job Overview

The AAA Screening Programme for Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin has been established since 2012 and continues to offer an excellent service to the residents of Shropshire since its conception.

The primary purpose of this role is to undertake abdominal ultrasound scanning as part of the community AAA screening programme. The post holder will ensure abdominal ultrasound scanning is undertaken to a high standard and in accordance with national standard operating procedures.

The post holder will reassure men attending the community AAA screening and surveillance clinics and explain the screening test to them. The post holder will ensure that the men attending clinics are informed and aware of the implications of AAA screening.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a screening technician, carrying out abdominal ultrasound scans within standard operating procedures. Following successful completion of the National AAA Screening Programme (NAAASP) course, the post holder will work independently and make judgements according to experience and training. Advice is available when needed for more complex situations but the post holder generally works on his/her own initiative without reference to the Line Manager. The holder must maintain accreditation with NAAASP. Within the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Programme, Screening Technicians do not work on their own in clinics.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
