AAA Screening Technician
The AAA Screening Programme for Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin has been established since 2012 and continues to offer an excellent service to the residents of Shropshire since its conception.
About the Role
The primary purpose of this role is to undertake abdominal ultrasound scanning as part of the community AAA screening programme. The post holder will ensure abdominal ultrasound scanning is undertaken to a high standard and in accordance with national standard operating procedures.
Responsibilities
- Reassuring men attending the community AAA screening and surveillance clinics.
- Explaining the screening test to men attending clinics.
- Ensuring that the men attending clinics are informed and aware of the implications of AAA screening.
- Working as a screening technician, carrying out abdominal ultrasound scans within standard operating procedures.
- Working independently and making judgements according to experience and training following successful completion of the National AAA Screening Programme (NAAASP) course.
- Seeking advice for more complex situations when needed.
- Maintaining accreditation with NAAASP.
- Working in collaboration within the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Programme.
