Summary
An opportunity has arisen for an office-based finance apprentice to join our friendly team. The role will incorporate varied duties covering daily bank postings, purchase ledger, and other general accounting duties. You will work alongside the wider finance team to ensure accurate posting and recording of transactions for multiple clients.
Wage:
- £15,600 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
- National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices
Training Course:
- Accounts or finance assistant (level 2)
Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm
- 37 hours 30 minutes a week
Start Date:
- Monday 19 October 2026

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Daily bank reconciliations
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple clients
- Processing accounts payable and receivable transactions efficiently
- Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Identifying discrepancies and resolving issues related to financial data
- Supporting the finance team with other accounting and business support tasks

What you'll learn
- Record transactional data. Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues, such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices. Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Other requirements
- We are looking to invest in an apprentice who wants to progress and grow in a company that offers excellent long-term career progression, is forward thinking, and customer focused.
- The successful candidate will have access to free car parking on site and dress code is business attire with no need for a uniform.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with clients and team members.

We are a small and friendly independent accountants based in Rochdale serving Manchester and beyond, providing expert accountancy services for a variety of clients, delivering expert tax and financial solutions for individuals and businesses.
