Job Title: Abrasive Blaster / Industrial Painter

Salary: Competitive with benefits package

Location: Peterhead

Contract: Permanent

Rotation: 10 days on 4 days off

Role Summary

IES is seeking experienced Abrasive Blasters / Industrial Painters to join our team at St Fergus Gas Terminal. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out abrasive blasting and supporting industrial coating activities on live operational gas infrastructure.

The primary focus of the role is the preparation of pipework, structural steelwork, valves, vessels and associated assets through abrasive blasting to SA 2.5 standard, ensuring surfaces are prepared in accordance with project specifications, inspection requirements and quality standards prior to coating application.

Working as part of an established industrial services team, you will play a key role in delivering maintenance and asset integrity works within a highly regulated COMAH environment, maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out abrasive blasting of pipework, valves, vessels, structural steelwork and associated assets to SA 2.5 standard
  • Prepare surfaces in accordance with project specifications and client inspection requirements
  • Operate blasting equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all site procedures
  • Assist with the erection, maintenance and dismantling of blasting equipment and associated hoses
  • Support industrial coating and painting activities where required
  • Complete all work in accordance with permits to work, risk assessments and method statements
  • Work safely within scaffold structures, temporary habitats and confined or enclosed work areas
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within work areas and compounds
  • Attend and actively participate in daily briefings, toolbox talks and safety meetings
  • Comply with all client safety procedures, site rules and environmental requirements
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, inspectors and other trades to ensure project milestones are achieved
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support the successful delivery of the project

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in industrial abrasive blasting environments
  • ICATS, TTP or equivalent recognised blasting qualification
  • Confined Space Training (Medium Risk or above)
  • Good understanding of surface preparation standards, including SA 2.5
  • Experience working within operational industrial or COMAH sites
  • Experience working from scaffolding and within temporary blasting habitats
  • Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Eligible to work in the UK

Desirable Skills:

  • CSCS Card
  • SHEA Gas Certification
  • Working at Height Training
