Workday Absence & Time Off Consultant

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Workday Absence & Time Off Consultant to support the delivery of a large-scale Workday programme. This role will focus on designing, configuring, and enhancing Workday Absence & Time Off solutions, ensuring they align with business requirements and industry best practices. You'll work closely with HR, Payroll, and key stakeholders to deliver scalable, compliant, and user-friendly absence solutions across a global organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, configuration, and optimisation of Workday Absence & Time Off solutions.
  • Configure Time Off Types, Leave of Absence, Accruals, Eligibility Rules, Absence Tables, Balances, and Schedule-Based configurations.
  • Collaborate with HR, Payroll, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective Workday solutions.
  • Support the full Workday implementation lifecycle, including design, build, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.
  • Produce functional design documents, solution designs, and configuration workbooks.
  • Configure and maintain Business Process Frameworks (BPF), security roles, approvals, and audit controls.
  • Ensure seamless integration between Absence, Payroll, Time Tracking, and Benefits.
  • Support UAT activities, investigate defects, and implement configuration enhancements.
  • Simplify complex global absence policies while ensuring compliance with organisational and regional requirements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and recommend Workday best practices across the Absence & Time Off module.

Experience:

  • 8–12 years of Workday experience with a strong focus on the Absence & Time Off module.
  • Workday Absence Certification.
  • Proven experience delivering multiple end-to-end Workday implementations alongside BAU support.
  • Strong hands-on experience configuring Time Off Plans, Leave of Absence, Accruals, Eligibility Rules, and Absence Frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of Workday Business Process Framework (BPF) and security configuration.
  • Experience integrating Workday Absence with Payroll, Time Tracking, and Benefits.
  • Experience supporting global Workday implementations and multi-country rollouts.
  • Ability to create functional specifications, solution designs, and configuration documentation.
  • Experience supporting UAT, defect resolution, and post-production support.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with HR, Payroll, and technical teams.
  • Knowledge of Workday Payroll, security governance, and Financial Services environments would be advantageous.
