ACA CTA Joint Programme (1 July 2025 onwards)

The ACA qualification has changed. Students registering for the ACA from 1 July 2025 and starting their studies from September 2025 will follow the new ACA structure. We’re therefore evolving the Joint Programme to support future learning and development in taxation and align with the proposed new CTA qualification updates and the ACA developments.

The tax-related elements of the ACA syllabus have changed, meaning that we needed to re-examine the syllabi of the ACA and CTA side-by-side and look at how we could best deliver an effective Joint Programme for the future.

Those who enrolled with ICAEW for their ACA studies from 1 July 2025 will join the updated ACA CTA Joint Programme. ICAEW students who have enrolled on or before 30 June will be subject to transitional rules.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
