The Team

Business and Management at York St John University London Campus supports a diverse and growing academic community across undergraduate and postgraduate provision. We emphasise research-informed teaching, inclusive practice and the development of a strong research culture, with research activity contributing to Business and Management Studies.

The Role

We are seeking to appoint an Academic Associate in Business and Management to start in January 2027.

As an Academic Associate, you will undertake a PhD at York St John University whilst also being employed by the University to support teaching and assessment. The Academic Associate is a fixed-term position for four years and includes a UK tuition fee waiver/scholarship for a full-time PhD. Please note that a condition of the post is full time study.

Alongside your doctoral research, you will contribute an average of six hours per week of face-to-face teaching during the semesters, spread over one to two days. Activities may include seminars, workshops and tutorials, together with preparation, assessment and marking.

The successful candidate will join the research community at the London Campus and undertake doctoral research aligned with areas relevant to Business and Management Studies. Training and academic support will be provided to develop teaching-related skills and professional competencies alongside doctoral research.

Required Skills And Experience

Applicants should have a Master's degree and an upper second-class honours degree (2:1), or equivalent, in Business and Management or a relevant discipline.

Candidates should demonstrate sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge to contribute to established teaching and research programmes and have the ability to develop a PhD research project proposal. Knowledge of relevant research methods and previous teaching experience are desirable.

Candidates should also demonstrate excellent communication skills, an ability to work collaboratively, and the potential to contribute to the University's research environment and intellectual capacity.
